Can you even believe that it’s that time of year already? I’ve joined some fellow bloggers today to share with you our take on Thanksgiving. It’s my favorite holiday for sure! I love the togetherness, the traditions and especially the food. But truth be told, I’m not a turkey lover and when I host I usually skip the bird all together. We’ve done ham, and even brisket but this year I’m going way off course with a hearty ragu. It’s comfort food at it’s finest.
This is the perfect option for a Friendsgiving. It takes the pressure off the host and allows them to prepare this one pot meal before that guest arrive and have it bubbling on the stove just waiting to be served at your convenience. You’ll be relaxing and sipping on wine with the rest of the party instead of sweating in the kitchen.
So with the menu in mind I started brainstorming ideas for a laid back tablescape. I wanted something that felt cozy and welcoming, and this plaid throw blanket was the perfect jumping off point! By placing the throw on a diagonal it immediately felt less formal.
I picked up this round wooden tray to place my floral arrangement on. I think it grounds the table and helps it feel like the items are not just scattered around the table without a purpose. It also serves as a great tray to bring dessert out on.
These new dishes were a last minute addition and are probably my favorite item on the table. They are the perfect bowl/plate for this dish. I’ve been eyeing black flatware for over a year now but just couldn’t pull the trigger…until I found this set! You guys, service for four under $30…get yours!
The only side you’ll need for this meal is some fresh bread to soak up every last bit of this delicious sauce. I love to bring the bread out on the cutting board so everyone can decide just how much they would like to cut off. This is not the time to be on a low carb diet folks! :) I also like to have fresh parmesan cheese at the table, nothing beats freshly grated parmesan on top of this pasta.
I kept the flowers pretty simple for this tablescape. Some eucalyptus and cooper colored blooms were just the right amount of color for this fall gathering. I tucked in a few sprigs of brown wheat for some rustic texture (it’s all in the details friends).
I hope you enjoyed my take on Friendsgiving, is this something you’d try? You’ll want to save this recipe and give it a try this season, I promise you won’t be disappointed! Be sure to check out the other blogs below to see their fall tablescapes. There really is something for everyone, I’m honored to be amongst these talented ladies. Enjoy!
